Our History

Our Mission: Empowering Cancer Survivors for Brighter Future

At Survivor Friendly Foundation, we are on a mission to transform the lives of cancer survivors. Our non-profit organization is dedicated to providing essential items, support, and resources to those who have triumphed over cancer. We understand that the journey doesn’t end with treatment; in fact, it’s a new beginning that comes with its own set of challenges.

Commitment: Bridging the Gap

Many cancer survivors face an uphill battle in accessing vital items like prostheses, wigs, and tools for managing side effects such as lymphedema, intimacy-related issues, and concerns about the future. Despite being necessary for their well-being, these items are often considered cosmetic by insurance providers. This combined with the lack of nearby mastectomy shops and insurance coverage creates a barrier that many survivors find insurmountable.

That’s where Survivor Friendly Foundation steps in. We are committed to helping the uninsured or under-insured that no survivor is left without the essential resources they need to regain their confidence, manage their recovery, and enhance their quality of life. We bridge the gap by providing these items for free to those who need them the most.

Improving the Quality of Life

We firmly believe that every cancer survivor deserves the chance to thrive and live their best life. Our foundation is built on the principle that survivors should have access to tools, resources, and support that enable them to flourish in their post-cancer journey. In addition to providing physical resources, we actively promote breast health education and self-checks, emphasizing the importance of early detection in improving outcomes and saving lives.

Informed Choices for a Brighter Tomorrow:

One crucial aspect of our mission is to empower women with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions about their treatment options. Our free consultation services specialize in guiding women through the complex decision-making process, particularly in terms of choosing between reconstruction and prosthesis. We firmly believe that every woman deserves access to comprehensive information before making such a significant decision, and we are here to guide and support them every step of the way.

Inspired by Experience:

Our founder, Jacqueline Cromity, is a cancer survivor herself. She intimately understands the physical and emotional changes that accompany cancer treatment. Her personal journey led her to create an emblem that businesses can proudly display to signify their awareness of cancer symptoms and their commitment to being “Survivor Friendly.” This emblem serves as a beacon of hope and understanding for those who have walked the path of cancer.

At Survivor Friendly Foundation, we are not only dedicated to helping survivors conquer “The Cliff” of post-treatment uncertainty but also to guiding them towards a brighter, more empowered future. Together, we stand as a community of support, resourcefulness, and resilience. Join us in making a lasting impact on the lives of cancer survivors.

Survivor Friendly Foundation 501c3 vs the Survivor Friendly  (for Profit DME)

At Survivor Friendly Foundation 501c3, we understand the importance of financial transparency. We want our donors to know that the financial bookkeeping of our nonprofit is kept by two separate CPAs. This ensures that our funds are used responsibly and that our donors’ contributions are making a real difference in the lives of those we serve.

In addition to our nonprofit, we also have a for-profit company called Survivor Friendly DME. Owned by the same person as our nonprofit, Survivor Friendly DME offers post-mastectomy products and services through insurance coverage. Our nonprofit and for-profit work together to ensure that all individuals who have undergone mastectomy surgery have access to the products and services they need to support their recovery and long-term survivorship.

Your support of our nonprofit helps us to continue providing free resources to those who need them most. By donating to Survivor Friendly Foundation 501c3, you can help us make a real difference in the lives of individuals who have undergone mastectomy surgery. We appreciate your generosity and look forward to continuing our work together.
