Market Place Awareness

We are committed to creating a network of businesses that are sensitive to the needs of cancer survivors. Our goal is to provide a safe and comfortable environment for cancer survivors to receive services without feeling embarrassed or uncomfortable about their physical appearance.

It is commendable that businesses are taking steps to be more sensitive to the needs of those who are battling or have survived cancer. Providing survivor-friendly emblems or certifications can help cancer patients feel more comfortable and supported when visiting these establishments.

Some examples of survivor-friendly practices that businesses can adopt include providing private rooms for treatments, accommodating special needs like wig fitting or prosthetics, offering gentle and chemical-free products, and training staff on how to interact with customers who have undergone cancer treatments.

It is important to note that survivor-friendly practices should not be limited to just cancer patients. They can also benefit individuals with other health conditions, disabilities, or unique needs. By creating a welcoming and inclusive environment, businesses can attract and retain a diverse range of customers.
How to Certify my Business as Survivor Friendly
If you are a business owner who wants to become Survivor Friendly certified follow these three steps.
1. As a first step towards becoming a Survivor Friendly business, companies can view an educational video provided by the Survivor Friendly Foundation. This video aims to provide a brief overview of cancer treatment and its common side effects, enabling businesses to understand the challenges faced by cancer survivors.
2. Upon completion of the survivor-friendly educational program, businesses will receive an emblem to display on their website and physical location. This emblem signifies that the business has taken steps to ensure that their facilities are welcoming and accommodating to those who have conquered cancer
3. Additionally, the business will be added to the Survivor Friendly Foundation's directory of survivor-friendly establishments. This directory serves as a resource for cancer survivors and their families to easily locate businesses that are committed to providing a supportive environment.

It is important to note that Survivor Friendly practices should not be limited to just physical accommodations. Staff training should also be provided to ensure that employees are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to interact with cancer survivors in a sensitive and respectful manner.

By becoming a survivor-friendly business and being listed in the directory, companies can demonstrate their commitment to the well-being of their customers and foster a more inclusive and supportive environment.
